Cd digipak template

This is the template we've decided to use for our digipak.

Final cd cover idea

After looking through our media studies project we thought we would stick to our idea of simple and effective. We've still used the main frame of having the singer in the foreground and the background showing relation to the city in the story. This enables the purchaser to be able to feel like they have a relationship with the main singer.

Cd cover ideas

After reading Jame's post i felt these pictures are possible backgrounds for the CD cover creating the dark and gloomy effect. The reason i have chosen these photo's is because of the powerful sky's and the main tonal ranges being black and grey. This creates a very clear emotion setting which is appropriate seeing as the song is emotionally related to the singer being sad.

my ideas for the cd cover

i think a good idea would be to keep the original plan of using the city in the background but not using the green fields in front of it. Instead having a shot of the lead singer at the front instead. I would make the city look as though it is overshadowing the lead singer as though it was consuming him, by making the city look really dark and gloomy.

cd cover ideas

even though this is a very simple cd cover, it is very effective. It just shows the lead singer of the band in plan clothes. This allows the buyer to see to singer for a real person and someone they may be able to affiliate themselves with. An idea like this is something we could use as the main person in our music video is are lead singer. We could put our lead singer in a natural setting allowing the consumer to be able to look at more than just the singer.

Although this image isnt about a band or artist it does have some things that are group may be intrested in as it has the city in the background which we are going to perhaps use for either are magazine ad or dvd cover, the writng is clear and effective as you can see it bodly and no what its saying, the effect with the red paint looking like its been splashed on looks good and gives it a arty type appeal.
My opinion on are music video is that it is good an works well, the lip syncing is very accurate and this is hard to do so we are pleased we have managed to get this part correct, some of the shots are effective, we have done different shot types for the drummer, guitar and piano using quite quick cuts in parts which goes well with the pace of the song. overall as a group we are happy, we do think that the idea is quite original having the artist walking around and singing but we feel we have done extremely well on gettting it right and feel it works with the simple type song we choose. are editing is good and we decided to have the main singing parts of the main singer (james) in black and white to give a sad dull feeling showing the feeling of the singer and matching the lyrics in the song, we dont feel this makes the video dull though, we have used colour saturation giving some of the guitar action a blue tint to it.

dvd cover ideas

Although this is not that similar to the idea we have there are some good ideas we have taken off this image. The font is very effective in this photo as well as blends in to the style of light in the photo. Seeing as we are using possibly using the New York background which can be known at night for it's large sum of lighting we could use a idea like this.

Dvd cover ideas

This is a cd cover made by the hush sound. The idea is similar to what we have in mind although rather than having the countryside background we would replace it with a city style photo. Also this gives us a possible font idea, it looks very professional in the cover shown. The way the band is placed facing side ways also is a possible idea because we are going to place the band in the foreground of the photo.

DVD cover ideas

Our video is mainly based around a city therefore by relating our video to our dvd cover we thought New York would be a good possible idea seeing as it's such a famous city and the simpleness can be very effective.

Define Digipak

Digipak is a patented style of compact disc or DVD packaging, and is a registered trademark of AGI Media, a MeadWestvaco, Inc. resource, which acquired the original trademark holder, IMPAC Group, Inc., in 2000. MeadWestvaco licensed the name and designs to manufacturers around the world.

The Digipak is the exceptional alternative to standard jewel box packaging. Made mostly from thick card, the digipak is virtually shatterproof and allows great graphic display. Originally used for the album packaging of leading musicians, the digipak and digipak family are now priced reasonably enough to be used for any CD or DVD project. The digipak is an extremely versatile packaging. It can be made to accommodate a booklet either by placing in a die-cut slot or gluing onto one of the panels. In addition, the panels can be increased from 4 to 6, 8 or more. The DVD Digipak is a popular alternative to the DVD box. It is now widely used for feature film DVD releases which are special editions because it increases the value and creates a premium product. Click here to view an animation of the DVD Digipak.

Final Cut

Final Video Feedback

After showing the video to the class the feedback we recieved was:

Good parts - The pace of video reflects pace of song. Drum kits shown in differen't places within Ely town gives the video some originality. The lip sync used was in time and well done. Some of the shots used were creative such as the singer in the reflection of the window.

Bad Parts - Some of the camera work was criticized such as the occasional shaky shot and some of the zooms used were not completely smooth. Also our video was recognised as a common idea because there has already been many videos made where the singer is followed through a city.

Development

As we approach the deadline for are final cut, we have made changes to our video. The idea of having shots of the field have been scrapped as we don't think the shots we originally took would now fit in with our video. We have now added more shots of the band to show to the audience how the song should be played.

In order to add the element of sadness to the video we have decided to make the main shots in black and white.

Friday 13 November 2009

For our dvd cover, we have changed it slightly, we are still planning the same sort of idea but instead of the guy holding a guitar he will with his band,we took a photo whilst shooting our video of the drums the piano and the singer all together we think this looked really good and incorporates the hole band, in the background we like the idea of having the city behind it, so whilst james went on a trip to new york he took some photos of the city and we think we might use one of these for the background.
We have now as a group decided that having the part of the music video with the girl in the countryside may be to much to do and may be difficult to get it right. so we discussed as a group to have lip synking and performance based stuff with piano and drums, we feel this still gives enough for our peice to look very effective and it also keeps with the simple style of the song.
